Just a couple of things I learned the hard way
(1.) When storing your belongings in a self storage unit and if said storage isn't in your name, be sure to have something in writing from the person you're subletting from, including an itemized list with pictures of your belongings, signed by the person who's name is on the unit. Get one with your own name as soon as possible. Not doing this can set you up for a theft of your belongings and the facility manager can't help If it's just a he said she said situation. Even onsite video doesn't help.
(2.) Defaulf/ lien notice/ lien sale time-frame is only 45 days total, like to the date of the auction. That's a month and a half. So there isn't much time to save your belongings if something happens and you can't pay for the unit.“
